Masculinity is manly character. It specifically describes men and boys, that is personal and human, unlike male which can also be used to describe animals, or masculine which can also be used to describe noun classes. When masculine is used to describe men, it can have degrees of comparison—more masculine, most masculine. The opposite can be expressed by terms such as unmanly, epicene or effeminate. A typical near-synonym of masculinity is virility (from Latin vir, man); and the usual complement is femininity.

A. Nouns in French must be memorized as given: Each noun is either masculine or feminine. All this requires dictionary study. There is no analytical or systematic approach. Carry your "LaRousse French Dictionary."

How can you tell if something is masculine or feminine in italian?
Q. I have an Italian project due soon and i need to know how can you tell if a word is masculine or feminine?

A. The only real way to ever be sure is to memorize it while learning the word or looking it up in the dictionary. However, there are **general** ways to guess the gender. Normally, a masculine noun ends with an -o (-i in plural) and feminine nouns end with -a (-e in plural). There are many exceptions to this: --il programma (m) --la radio (f) --la foto (f) (short for fotografia) --il cinema (m) (short for cinematografo) --la mano (f) --and more... The ending -zione is usually always feminine, like "la comunicazione". Words ending in -e (plural -i) can go either way and must be memorized: --la carne (f) --il latte (m) The most irregular words in Italian are probably body parts: --la mano -- le mani (hand/hands) (f) --il dito -- le dita ( [cont.]
