Healthy?????
Q. Ok, so I don't really need to lose any weight, according to my BMI, I'm a healthy weight, but skirting underweight. I have fat on my thighs and a bit on my tummy. I don't want to lose weight, I just want to stay healthy and not have fatness. I eat mildly healthy and exercise off and on, probably 3ish times a week... Do I need to do anything or should I just keep doing what I'm doing and accept that my legs have fat because I'm female? Thanks :)

A. BMI or scale doesnt tell you in what shape you are in - how much muscle mass or body fat percentage you have. you can have high BMI but have really low body fat percentage like body builders do or be skinny and underweight but have relatively high body fat percentage. So what you need is to decrease your body fat percentage and increase muscle mass - which you will achieve with healthy diet and exercise. find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose. eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism) 5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day 8 glasses of… [cont.]

What is a healthy juice kind of drink that you can drink all the time, everyday?
Q. I should drink a lot of water, because I know it's healthy... but I don't like it. I usually mix it with like half a glass of orange juice or apple juice something. I'm kinda tired of just plain apple juice and orange juice. I really like the V8 Splash, with the fruit and vegetables in it, I think that may be a good drink? But it has to be something that is not bad for me, and that is healthy in large amounts since I will drink just that, and mix in water (And have a glass of water a few times a week). I used to buy the big cases of Diet Snapple and drink nothing but that... but I feel there must be something healthier out there.

A. Whenever you cook rice, add vegetables to it. They not only lend color but taste to it. If you or your child hates to include things like spinach and beetroot in their diet because of its peculiar taste, then here is a trick. Prepare a portion of the rice with spinach juice, a portion in beetroot juice and a portion with lime juice and saffron. There it is- rice in three different color and taste. Place each of them side by side and for a perfect presentation sprinkle some nuts over it. Another tip for making that spinach push down to your stomach is add a teaspoon of cream to it and the gravy of some nuts. It makes the spinach tastes yummy and richness of the cream makes it look lovely (until you are too diet conscious). for some good… [cont.]

A. It's amazing that more people don't see this obvious fact. However your question is a very good and valid one that deserves a forthright answer. We live on a planet that grows stuff by synthesizing fruit and vegetables directly from water, minerals and sunlight. It just so happens that those plants have evolved along side our own evolution to sustain us perfectly. All you have to do is buy (or pick) fresh fruit and vegetables that are in season. All natural food comes in its own wrapper, it is easy to eat and requires no cooking. Not only that, but stuff that grows costs much less than stuff we have to feed, kill, process and repackage. One common misconception is the western world is that we need copious amounts of protein… [cont.]

Have any healthy fish recipes that might appeal to a fish-hater?
Q. I want to try and eat fish at least once a week because I hear time and time again how healthy it is, but I can't stand that seafood taste it has. Have any healthy recipes for fish that might appeal to me? I need something that masks or minimizes that distinctive seafood flavor fish has. It's not just about the omega-3s. I need some protein variety. I'm getting tired of chicken.

A. This is funny. If you do not like that "distinctive seafood flavor", then don't eat it. You can get the omega 3 from vitamin tablets or something like cod liver oil tablets. Search omega 3 on google and see what you can find.

A. A healthy diet is easy to say but hard to stick with. It is important to maintain a good diet so you don't compromise your health. Damage done because of lack of nutrition is not worth a nice body. Some diet damage cannot be fixed. When you deprive your brain,(your brain craves sugar) the brain will take other body cells to convert to the elements that it needs. And the cells it takes are BRAIN cells. OOPS. I don't want to lose brain cells to have thin legs. But I would like to have both. decide to make a life change to a healthy life style. 1) fruits and veggies, all you want, organic, raw, vine-ripe if possible. What is a healthy attitude and consumption of alcoholic drinks?
Q. I have been a over drinking for around say 4 years may be more but not a full blown alcoholic in the physical sense. I had a discussion in with my wife about drinking sensibly and next week I am going without a drink to see how I really feel about drinking physically and phychologically. I do not want to stop drinking as in teetotal as that to me is extreme and I enjoy a beer and a wine and would not deny myself the pleasure. But I do not want to drink where it is unhealthy but have a healthy sustainable enjoyment that maybe be beneficial.. I am 38, 6' 2" and weigh 220 lbs. Some advice would be nice that I could use and give me food for thought as I develop my practice and attitude to a more healthier way of life.

What are some healthy recipes that taste good?
Q. We're going to start working on eating healthier in the new year, especially focusing on dinner. The problem is we both work and have two young kids, so whatever we cook at night is usually done very quickly. Since "bad" food is usually easier to make, that's what we tend to gravitate to. Does anyone have any ideas of any healthy, quick to make recipes for dinner? We do like to make chicken, pork and fish. Not real big red meat eaters. Any advice would be appreciated!
Asked by Gallo - Wed Jan 2 11:51:39 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You could always add a side of vegetables to your main dishes. Or, you said you cook with chicken and pork a lot, you could easily make a chicken or pork stir-fry. If you don't want the hassle of chopping up the vegetables you can buy them frozen at your grocery store. All you would need is about 1/2 pound to a 1pound of chicken, same with the vegetables, and some stir-fry sauce. Cook the chicken until golden brown, in another pan cook the vegetables, then combine together and add the sauce, heat until warm. You can also find recipes online, google healthy recipes. Hope this helps.

How can I eat healthy without eating pieces of fruit and vegetable?
Q. I have a little problem. Well, actually a pretty big one. To be healthy you should eat 3-6 pieces of fruit and vegetables. But I just can't eat it that way without nearly vomiting. I do however like soup and orange juice and everything which contains no pieces. Problem is, I only eat soup once or twice a week and orange juice can't replace my daily need. What can I do to eat more healthy? Does frozen soup contain all the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that fresh soup does? That might be a solution.
