To the north lie Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe; to the east are Mozambique and Swaziland; while Lesotho is an independent country wholly surrounded by South African territory. South Africa is known for a diversity in cultures and languages. Eleven official languages are recognised in the constitution. South Africa also contains the largest European, Indian, and racially mixed communities in Africa. About a quarter of the population is unemployed and lives on less than US $1.25 a day. South Africa is the most populous country in the world to have legalized same-sex marriage throughout its entire territory. South Africa is a constitutional democracy in the form of a parliamentary republic with a parliamentarily-dependent head of state. It is one of the founding members of the African Union, and has the largest economy of all the members. It is also a founding member of the United Nations and NEPAD. South Africa is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, Antarctic Treaty System, Group of 77, South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone, Southern African Customs Union, World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, G20 and G8+5. GNU Free Documentation License Is South Africa going to Copenhagen for climate talks? Q. I remember hearding smething on NPR a few weeks ago about South Africa having decided not to go to Copenhagen. However, I cannot find any detailed information online. I am writing a paper on climate change and would appreciate any help if you know of any good sources. If South Africa is not going, I imagine it is becuase they don't expect that the industrial nations will help finance their efforts (as most developing nations believe). Q. I am thinking about moving to South Africa. I have a dog and cats. Does anyone know what they have to have in terms of health certificates? They have all had rabies jabs recently, but moving to the UK for instance they require 6 months after a clean rabies test before pets can enter the country - is it the same for South Africa?
