A. Here is a place that reviews a bunch of weight loss programs, dieting aides, supplements and so on. The site even has categories like diabetes, low fat and hypnosis. Pretty cool site. Many of the programs listed have consumer reviews, so you can read what others think of the different products and programs before you decide on one for yourself. Hope this helps!

A. Diet wise, you know, no junk. no processed food. * Instead of having 3 large meals in a day, have 5-6 small meals. Make sure to keep a gap of 2-3 hours between two consecutive meals. It will help speed up your metabolism and result in burning of more calories. Have protein, carbs & fat in a 40/40/20 percentage. * Drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day. The more you increase your water consumption, the better it is. * Never ever skip meals or eat too less in order to lose weight. It will only make your metabolism slower, resulting in an even slower burning of calories. *check out this site to determine how many calories you need daily to sustain you weight - then eat less. Check with the gym trainers on food supplements like… [cont.]

A. I did fatloss4idiots diet plan and I lost about 50 pounds in not even 3 months. And I've kept it off for almost 2 years now. I found it to be the easiest diet because it pretty much told you what you could and couldn't eat and you didn't have to count points or anything like that. What I lost really isn't typical for the amount of time I did it but I know others who have done it and they got really good results from it as well.

Q. I've heard the second week is the hardest especially because there is little results and not as easy to stick to. At what point will it get easier mentally? A. It's all depend on which weight loss program that you incorporate in order to achieve your ideal weight. A healthy weight loss program is one which does not make you lose weight in such a manner that your health is spoiled. Starvation is not a worthy way to lose weight because most people will fail to abide to the program rules after a certain period. Many such programs and diet plans go overboard in their attempt to make people lose fat rapidly. Fad diets or starvation diets are a definite no-no. There are so many harmful effects of starving yourself and not eating properly. And many times you would not lose body fat with such fad diets, instead you will lose water weight. Similarly - low carb diets, low protein diets etc. that make you… [cont.]

What weight loss supplements can people with Bipolar condition take?
Q. I would like to know specifically what supplements to help aid weight loss for Bipolar people on weight gaining Bipolar medication (which slows the metabolism and increases appetitite) I already know of Green Tea to speed up metabolism and suppress appetite and Acai Berry DOES help you look a bit thinner in the face and relieves minimal bloat if taken moderately. What other supplements are safe? I want as much help as i can get! Thanks!

A. I understand the problem with meds and weight gain. Going through it myself. However, I would not risk any supplement etc. This is because they may have something in them that could trigger a manic state. Supplements are not required to be tested by the FDA and we don't always know what is in these supplements and what might trigger an exacerbation in our symptoms. I do agree with the other poster about exercise. It is sooo hard to do. I seriously have problems with staying motivated but my 15 year old (also bipolar) excercises everyday and she actually weighs less AND she eats whatever she wants. She just gets a lot of excercise and it works. Hope that helps.

I go at least 4 times a week. Usually every day though unless another plan interrupts my schedule. I am watching what I eat. I have cut my calories significantly and even started keeping a food diary, in which i also keep track of my exercise. A. Do not take diet pills! They are dangerous!! Last year I was visiting my parents and took diet pills on top on my exercise routine and normal diet. I was 26 at the time, 5'11, 180 lbs. By week three I was sick. I had diarrhea, dry heaves, dizziness, headaches, and a general feeling of being sick. I thought I had caught the flu or something. I had lost 13 lbs in 4 days. One morning I told my mom I didn't feel good. My vision kept blacking out and I felt (for lack of a better way to say it) stoned. Later that afternoon I was walking from the bathroom to my bedroom (a 5 foot walk) and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital emergency where they did a bunch of tests on me. I am starting a weight loss competition in my family, whats the best way to measure progress?
Q. I wanted to start a weight loss competition this summer in my family, but I wanted it to be fair. For example its probably easier for my 260 pound brother to lose a pound than my 160 pound mom. So whats is the best way to compare? Should it just be percentage of mass? Should fat be considered? Should i buy a body fat analyzer? Because i guess if someone lost 10 pounds of fat and gained 3 pounds of muscle, wouldn't that be better than someone else who just lost 9 pounds of fat? Just curious what people's thoughts on this are, i want it to be as fair as possible but with accurate measures of comparison.

What do you eat after weight loss surgery?
Q. I'm considering weight loss surgery. What does one eat after a surgery? Could I just follow the same diet (without the surgery) and get the same results?
Asked by babygirl123455 - Sun Jul 15 11:10:08 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you are considering the surgery, why are you asking if you can get the same results following the same diet? Surgery is the last option for those who are seriously overweight, and ALL other methods have failed. It sounds like you want to try and change your diet, which is good. If you have not tried diet and exercise, then you should. This surgery is dangerous, and full of risks. Spend the time exercising and eating healthy food. It took a long time for you to put on the weight, so it is going to take a long time to take it off. Just be patient and you will be rewarded for your efforts. They give you very strict instructions about what you can, and cannot eat after surgery. For instance, you cannot drink and eat at the same time. You… [cont.]

What generally comes first with cancer - weight loss or fever?
Q. And how bad is loss of appetite? Does it just change or is it totally gone? Is it the appetite that effects weight or is it an increased metabolism, or both? Also, how prevalent is weight loss, loss of appetite, and fever with advanced cancers?
Asked by Adam - Fri Apr 3 17:34:00 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Neither generally comes first. Where did you even get that idea?Cancer doesn't cause a fever and unless you have a later stage cancer involving the digestive system, you probably won't have any weight loss. I've met many people this past year with cancer and the only one with any weight loss was an old man with stomach cancer that had metastasized to ther organs. He was in a very advanced stage and didn't live much longer.

What is the best way to avoid saggy skin during a weight loss regiment?

I want to know if it is necessary to stick to the regiment of 2 pounds max per week for weight loss or it's alright to lose more if you're doing higher intensity exercises like swimming, running, bicycling. A. It really doesn't matter how big you get (as long as you are not grossly overweight). What matters is how healthy your skin is, and the skin type you were born with. The Vitamins that directly affect skin health are... Making sure you are taking these daily along with lots of water for hydration is VITAL to help your skin repair itself. If you can stand to do it, you should replace every fluid in your diet with water--but make sure you don't drink too much. You need to keep your skin hydrated, but you can make yourself sick if you drink TOO much.

A. Olive oil is always a wise choice in cooking oil. It contains monounsaturated fat which is actually good for your body. However, sometimes, depending on the dish you are preparing, you won't want the strong taste that olive oil imparts to food. In those cases, I'd reccomend canola oil. It's healthier than vegetable oil, cooks just as well, and doesn't leave any kind of unwanted taste with the food.

What kind of yoga is good for weight loss and toning?
Q. I recently lost a lot of weight. I do an hour of cardio a day and some wights for toning as instructed by a trainer at my gym. I also want to know how many days a week I should go. I am looking for something that will have great results since I am at a plateau for my weight loss.

A. The best thing I have found for toning is two day per week of Ashtanga Yoga and two days per week of pilates! Ashtanga, however is NOT for beginners, so make sure you take care if you do it. Another avenue for you could be Bikram, or "Hot Yoga". It's a very active yoga done is a hot room.
